Saidpur
awahid, life, photography September 8th, 2008
The Saidpur village near Margala road, Islamabad Pakistan is a beautiful old heritage that has been preserved by CDA. It is becoming a center of attraction for many tourists because of its more than 100 years old history.
The Persian book ‘Kaigor Namah’ beautifully describes the place [Saidpur] during the visit of the Mughal commander Raja Man Singh in about 1580. It was a garden resort with a number of natural streams supplying water for drinking and irrigation…Raja Man Singh was so enamored by the village that he turned it into a place of religious worship. He constructed raised platforms, walled enclosures and a number of kunds (ponds) called Rama kunda, Sita kunda, Lakshaman kunda and Hanuman kunda named after the characters of the Hindu epic Ramayana. Saidpur was declared a pilgrim center and Rama kunda was preserved right up to 1947.

saidpur village is lucky enough that it has been preserved by CDA and declared model village, as CDA has no positive attitude history toward village. but still i have concerns about CDA, i hope that the preservation of saidpur by CDA is not like our governers’ promises

This is amazing!
I was putting up this slide show about Islamabad, and i used some of your photos on flickr….what a co-incidence!!
Its good i caught you before i put up the post: do you want me to link them back to your blog? If you want, i can do that instead of linking them back the Flickr. (that’s just for the ones i display… some, contained in the links will just go back to the Flickr profile b/c the copyright issues.)
As usual, amazing pictures.

Its not that hard to find. while on margalla road on the way from parliament towards Pir Sohawa you can easily see the wooden arrow of Saidpur pointing towards the small road, near a white mosque, it will lead you to the village.
I hope It works for you.
